Our concept had to represent and communicate both occasions and express the bond between the two countries. Therefore, we combined their national mottos (“I will uphold” and “Unity makes strength”) and came up with the phrase “Upholding the unity”. We used blue and orange as part of the Netherlands’ national flag and the images of Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands and knyaz Alexander of Battenberg in order to express the historical theme.
